assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion at Fort Stewart, GA.

SPC Nikolas S. Welch, 26, Mill City, OR died of wounds at Walter Reed National Medical Center. SPC Welch was wounded in action while on a
dismounted patrol when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in Soltan Kheyl, Wardak Province, Afghanistan. SPC
Welch, a fire support specialist, was assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion at Fort Stewart, GA.
They gave what President Abraham Lincoln called “the last full measure of devotion”.  To these heroes and to their sacrifice, we say,
thank you, on behalf of ourselves, the 15th Infantry, and a grateful nation.
